December Book Club and Card Exchange Information

Marcos Card Exchange Christmas Lunch Invitation
To Everyone at Marcos
Please e-mail (see below) by Friday, November 30 to reserve your space.

Marcos Monthly Card Exchange group is inviting everyone who participates in the store’s wonderful events to attend a lunch with a gift exchange and dessert exchange. We do not really get a chance to just visit with each other. We would like to open it to anyone at Marcos who would like to join us.  Feel free to bring a guest.

The luncheon will take place on Wednesday, December 5 since Wednesday is a day everyone seems to be at Marcos. We will meet from 11:30- 1:30. This allows time for you to do the morning MITI and be back for the afternoon one.

We will eat at Marion’s Piazza at 50 E. Stroop in the Town & Country Shopping Center. (near Tuesday Morning if you want to shop after). We have reserved dining space. They have a lunch special- ½ pizza with two toppings and a large fountain drink for $5.24 plus tax. They have other options besides pizza. This is there web site: https://www.marionspiazza.com/menus/

We thought it would be fun to do an (optional) dessert exchange. We are asking each participant to bring a small wrapped dessert (one for each participant) and we will exchange them just like we do the cards. It does not have to be home baked! It could be a cookie, brownie, cupcake, piece of chocolate, etc. This is, of course, optional. If you do not wish to participate in this, that is fine. Please join us for lunch.

We will also have an (optional) gift exchange. Each of us will make one gift. Wrap it or use a gift bag. Be sure to include your name. Everyone who brings a gift, will select a gift in the exchange. The gift could be a gift box with a treat inside, a set of cards with envelopes, some gift tags to use for Christmas, etc. The dollar limit is $5.00. The idea is to create a Christmas remembrance, not spend a ton of money. If you would rather purchase a small gift instead of making something, that is fine. Again, this is optional. If you do not want to participate in the gift exchange, please join us for lunch.

We do need to know who is participating to determine reserved space and the number of desserts needed. Please e-mail Wendy Beck at wsjb@woh.rr.com to let her know if you will attend and if you will participate in the dessert exchange. Remember, the dessert and gift exchanges are optional. You can participate in just one, both or none. Wendy just needs to know how many desserts to request. Please e-mail Wendy by Friday, November 30.

Due to the lunch, will be no December Book Club. There will also not be a January Book Club as the first Wednesday is January 2- the day after New Year’s. Book Club will resume on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Card Exchange Themes for 2019

1. Designer’s Choice is always an option.

2. A card for a man is always needed.  At least once during the next year, make one of your cards appropriate for a man.

3. Embossing (folder and/or powder) and embellishments are used across all themes. At least once during the next year, try to incorporate each of these into at least one card. They do not need to be on the same card.

4. We put a lot of possibilities into the months of April and May. If you would like to do one of these in place of another theme that does not appeal to you, feel free to do so.
(Sympathy, Thinking of You, Get Well, Thank You, Friend, Birthday, Enjoy a Good Day, Graduation, Wedding, Baby, Congratulations, Retirement, New Home, etc.)

5. If a theme for a month is too involved for the time you have that month, trade with another month.
